Volunteers from Milford Haven Quakers have begun to restore the garden at the Meeting House and have been given a helping hand by an enthusiastic team of young volunteers.
Working alongside the Quakers, 1st Johnston Scouts spent a sunny evening clearing brambles, collecting rubbish and picking up a huge quantity of stones so that grass seed may be planted.
After a series of building projects over the last few years, the garden had become overgrown and a trap for litter; the aim is to re-establish the quiet and wildlife-friendly place it once was so that local residents may enjoy it.
The project has been given a boost thanks to a cash injection by environmental organisation Keep Wales Tidy.
On the evening of 10 June, Milford Haven Quakers were presented with a cheque for £950.47 from the Green Communities project which will help pay for a new lawnmower, tools, safety equipment and training as well as native trees, shrubs and bulbs which will be planted to encourage wildlife and enhance biodiversity.
The cash support has been made possible by funding from the Welsh Assembly Government and European Regional Development Interreg 4A Ireland Wales Programme.
